Channel Madness Round 3 Results: Newcomers Cooper, Evans Forge Ahead

Round 3 of CRN Channel Madness saw two tournament rookies muscle their way into the semifinals.

Round 3 of the 2023 CRN Channel Madness Tournament of Chiefs showcased strong performances, including two tournament rookies that advanced to the semifinal round.

With titles up for grabs in the Infrastructure, Hardware, Cloud and Security regions, let’s look at which of the Enterprise Eight are advancing to the Field of Four.

In the closest match of the round, Scale Computing’s Scott Mann held off Dynabook Americas’ James Robbins to win the Hardware crown. Mann was victorious with 59 percent of the vote to Robbins’ 41 percent.

Tournament newcomer Ricky Cooper of VMware came out strong in his Cloud region matchup against Veeam Software’s Kevin Rooney. Cooper moves ahead after winning 63 percent of the vote to Rooney’s 37 percent.

Another tournament rookie, Tom Evans of Palo Alto Networks, also advanced to the semifinals with his victory over Arctic Wolf’s Bob Skelley. Evans garnered 78 percent of the vote to Skelley’s 21 percent to win the Security crown.

In the Infrastructure region, Nutanix’s Christian Goffi came away with 77 percent of the vote, besting NetApp’s Jenni Flinders with 23 percent.

That means Goffi and Mann will face each other in Round 4 as Mann continues his drive to defend his title as the 2022 Channel Madness Champion, while Cooper takes on Evans in the other Field of Four matchup.
