Business analytics developer Magnitude Software is expanding its operational analytics software in the cloud with the first cloud-based edition of its Magnitude Angles process analytics software.

The general availability of Magnitude Angles Cloud provides an additional deployment option for Magnitude Software’s channel partners including resellers, ISVs, consulting partners and systems integrators.

Angles Cloud collects and analyzes operational data from SAP and Oracle ERP (enterprise resource planning) applications to provide real time insights and analytical results for operational managers in finance, manufacturing, supply chain and distribution.

“It’s not the first cloud offering in our portfolio offerings,” said Chief Growth Officer Bas Kamphuis in an interview with CRN, noting that Magnitude Software is already available on a cloud hosted basis. “But it is a significant step forward in making it easier for customers to gain insights from the data they maintain in these ERP backbones and not having to worry about any of the technical complexities that are obviously part of a [technology] stack like that.”

Magnitude Software markets a portfolio of process automation, process analytics, data integration and data connectivity software. Some of the Austin, Texas-based company’s technology was acquired through a number of acquisitions including Noetix in 2013, Kalido in 2014, Simba Technologies in 2016, Innowera in 2017 and Every Angle in 2017.

The company’s process analytics tools include Angles for SAP (previously Every Angle) and Angles for Oracle (based on the Noetix technology). Both utilize a context-aware, process-rich business data model and a high-performance process analytics engine to collect and analyze operational data generated by SAP and Oracle ERP applications.

The analytical software includes more than 2,000 pre-configured, industry-specific templates and reports to deliver analytical results to business users. Unlike other analytical and reporting tools, the software does not require custom development by data scientists to translate ERP applications’ complex data schemas, according to Magnitude Software.

Kamphuis said that while traditional data visualization tools present analytical results, the visualizations often lack the business context that provide real insights. And many data warehouse systems provide historical analysis without perspective. Traditional business analytics, he said by way of example, may alert managers when product inventory in a warehouse is running low. But it doesn’t offer up solutions such as identifying available inventory in other locations the way Magnitude’s systems can with its connection to the ERP system.

“It’s that kind of deep, rich, complex analytical business information that’s lacking in most [business intelligence] solutions on the market today,” Kamphuis said.

Magnitude Angles Cloud is available now with versions for SAP and Oracle ERP applications to accommodate the proprietary aspects of each application suite. The analytical software runs on the AWS and Microsoft Azure cloud platforms.

Kamphuis described the new cloud-native software as a significant step for Magnitude. “We’re optimized to reap the benefits of being on hyperscale cloud providers in terms of reach, scalability, flexibility of the solution – that’s all there natively for the first time.”

Magnitude Software works with a range of channel partners including resellers and agents, technology partners including ISVs, business analytics consultants and systems integrators. Kamphuis said Magnitude Angles Cloud will provide partners with more – and more rapid – deployment options in providing the analytical software to their customers.

Currently about 50 percent of Magnitude’s sales are either made through or are influenced by a partner – a number Kamphuis said he would like to grow to around 70 percent this year.
