Slice of the Channel: Apple, Amazon Deny Hack Claims

Apple and Amazon continue to deny reports linking them to a giant Chinese microchip hack. The report originally came from Bloomberg and alleges that their servers were implanted by Chinese spies with malicious hardware.

Microsoft and HP both held launch events in New York City for new laptops. The HP Spectre Folio features a leather covering, which extends to both sides of the exterior, as well as to the area around the touchpad, and encases a magnesium aluminum frame. The new Surface Pro 6 comes in a matte black finish and is said to be 67 percent more powerful than the previous model. It will move up to eighth-generation Intel Core processors and keep pace with the previous version by offering 13.5 hours of battery life per charge and weighing 1.7 pounds.

Intermedia’s Chief Revenue Officer, Eric Martorano, has been tapped to lead a new tech firm. Martorano will start later this month as CEO and board member of the company primarily focused on delivering and managing software assets, both cloud-based and licensed, for small and midsize businesses, according to a source with knowledge of Martorano's plans who did not disclose the name of his new company.

And on Thursday, VMware closed its deal to purchase CloudHealth Technologies, a cloud management platform that will soon be available as an integrated offering VMware partners can bring to market.
