Microsoft CEO Satya Nadella’s Total Pay Grows To $42.9M As Cloud Booms

Microsoft CEO Satya Nadella saw his total compensation in the last fiscal year increase 66 percent to $42.9 million as the tech giant’s stock soared and cloud-related revenue boomed, according to a regulatory filing released on Wednesday.

Nadella’s pay package in fiscal 2019 included $2.3 million in salary, $29.7 million in stock awards, $10.8 million in non-equity incentive plan compensation, $111,363 million in other compensation, according to the firms’ annual proxy statement. Nadella reported $25.8 in total pay in fiscal 2018.

In the filing, Microsoft cited the company’s market capitalization, which grew from $302 billion upon Nadella’s February 2014 promotion to CEO to over $850 billion on September 4, 2018. As of Wednesday, the company had a total market value of $1.07 trillion -- the highest of any public company.

The board members also applauded “Nadella’s vision for the Intelligent Cloud.”

Microsoft’s fiscal 2019 ended June 30, 2019. During that period, the Redmond, Wash.-based tech giant reported revenue that exceeded $125 billion and grew commercial cloud revenue 43 percent to $38.1 billion. In addition, server products and cloud services revenue grew 25 percent and Azure revenue grew 72 percent.
