What follows are five key things to know about Samsung’s new Galaxy Book Pro series.

Display And Body

The Galaxy Book Pro and Galaxy Book Pro 360 will offer a choice between a 13.3-inch display or a 15.6-inch display. All four models will provide FHD (1,920 x 1,080) resolution and will include vibrant Super AMOLED display technology—making them Samsung’s first Windows PCs to offer AMOLED displays.

In terms of the notebooks’ exterior body, Samsung said it has made the new Galaxy Book Pro and Galaxy Book Pro 360 from highly durable 6000-series aluminum. That is the same alloy used by many aerospace manufacturers, Samsung said.

On colors, the Galaxy Book Pro 360 will be offered in navy or bronze, while the Galaxy Book Pro will offer blue or silver options.

Portability And Battery Life

Samsung is touting the portability of the new Galaxy Book Pro series models, with a starting weight of just 1.9 pounds for the Galaxy Book Pro (13.3-inch model). The 15.6-inch Galaxy Book Pro weighs 2.3 pounds, while the 13.3- and 15.6-inch models of the Galaxy Book Pro 360 weigh 2.3 pounds and 3.06 pounds, respectively.

The company said the notebooks also offer a thin form factor at 0.44 of an inch thick for the two 13.3-inch models and measuring about 0.46 of an inch thick for both of the 15.6-inch models.

On battery life, Samsung is promising up to 17 hours of usage on a charge for the new Galaxy Book Pro models. The notebooks also feature fast-charging capabilities with up to eight hours of power available after just a half-hour of charging, using the included 65W USB-C adapter, the company said.

Connectivity And Performance

For the 13-inch Galaxy Book Pro 360, support for high-speed 5G connectivity will be included, making it Samsung’s first 5G PC to launch in the U.S. The other models will not offer 5G, although all models will support Wi-Fi 6 connectivity.

On performance, all models will be available with speedy 11th-generation Intel Core processors, with Core i5 or Core i7 configurations offered, Samsung said.

Other Key Features

To aid with collaboration, Samsung said it has upgraded the notebooks’ multi-mic array to filter out background noise using intelligent noise cancellation. The new Galaxy Book Pro series laptops also include AKG speakers featuring Dolby Atmos tuning.

On security, the new notebooks include a built-in privacy screen that can prevent onlookers from viewing the display from an angle. Other security capabilities include password-protected privacy folders and a feature that will snap a photo if someone attempts an unauthorized login.

Additional upgrades include a 23 percent larger touchpad and an S Pen stylus (included with the Galaxy Pro 360) that is 2.5X thicker, Samsung said.
