WATCH: HP’s Alex Cho Says Partners Will Have More Opportunity To Sell Premium Devices in 2019

HP has its sights set on the millennial worker. The PC company kicked off 2019 with a new line of devices fit for the modern workplace. In an interview with CRNtv, Alex Cho, president of HP’s Personal Systems business, explained how partners stand to benefit from the latest launches.

“Our innovations reflect opportunities for them to sell more premium devices,” said Cho, who also said that he expects 2019 to be a breakout year for Device-as-a-Service, which pairs device leases with advanced analytics for proactive maintenance. “Our security is award-winning on our devices, even better when it’s managed as a service.”

Some of the latest devices include the new EliteBook X360 830 G1, the first-ever convertible model in the 800 series. The notebook is a mainstream model of the EliteBook x360, which is primarily used by HP’s premium business segment. Cho says bringing features of that device to mainstream corporate workers is a big part of HP’s strategy going forward. “We innovate in our top end and we bring it mainstream.”

HP has also added SureView, its privacy-focused feature designed to protect users’ screens from on-lookers, to its displays and all-in-ones. When enabled, the feature makes sure that the content of a screen is only visible at a 40-degree angle. Cho says the SureView-enabled displays and all-in-ones are a great fit for those working in an open office or on the go.

“Millennials work in public places and they are also working in brighter, ambient light environments,” said Cho. “These devices are the brightest screens to allow you to work in more areas.”
