Power Play: Reduce Risk With Eaton’s Gigabit Network Card

Learn how one solution provider was able to help his customers save money and reduce their cybersecurity risk by installing Eaton’s new Gigabit Network Card.

More than 75 billion connected devices will be online by 2025, according to Statista. This creates both a cybersecurity opportunity and a challenge for solution providers.

“Small businesses could go out of business really quick,” says Thomas Boyken, founder and CEO of Forward Tech Solutions.

Boyken knows cybersecurity risk all too well. One of his customers, a school district, was at high risk of being hacked, thanks to older network cards installed by another company.

His solution? Install Eaton’s new Gigabit Network Card.

“He’s moved over to these Gigabit Cards, and I think it’s night and day as to how much simpler the Gigabit Card is,” says Boyken. “He felt like there [were] more tools there for him. They were easier to use. They were faster to set up.”

Eaton’s Gigabit Network Card is also the first of its kind to receive the UL 2900-2-2 certification. This gives customers confidence in knowing the device has been reviewed by a trusted third party in the security space. “Our card forces customers to take the proper steps in a very intuitive manner that’s light and not cumbersome. It has a great user experience,” says David Windsor, senior product planning manager at Eaton.

“It just helps you round out your offerings to your clients and it makes me look like that much better of a resource to them,” says Boyken.

Eaton enhances its partner experience by providing short training modules on how to install the Gigabit Network Card. Solution providers can remotely monitor and manage their customers’ IT environments thanks to the network card’s integration with Eaton’s Intelligent Power Manager. “This is another layer that you can take advantage of,” says Stephanie Durden, west coast channel marketing manager at Eaton. “It’s all about business continuity, saving time, saving money and avoiding risk.”

The global cost of cybercrime to businesses is projected to reach $2 trillion this year, according to the World Economic Forum 2018 Global Risks Report. By installing the Gigabit Network Card, partners can help their customers save money and reduce their cybersecurity risk.
